The name Gremlin comes from two things. A love for the old sci-fi film, and the gremlins in the system that anyone who has worked in technology knows all too well. We have spent our careers chasing those gremlins, so the name stuck.
We started Gremlin because we kept seeing the same pattern. A big consultancy would roll in, sell something expensive, then disappear before anyone had to maintain it. Half the time a simpler setup would have been fine, but nobody was going to suggest that because simpler does not pay as well.
We wanted to be the people who give honest advice. If you do not need Kubernetes, we will say so. If your AWS bill is twice what it should be, we will tell you where the money is going before we try to sell you anything. We have turned down projects before because they were not a good fit, and we will again. Better that than taking someone’s money and delivering something we are not proud of.
What we actually do
We are a small team based in Essex with over 20 years of combined experience across cloud infrastructure, DevOps, software development, and AI. We work with businesses of all sizes, from startups figuring out their first AWS setup to established companies that need to modernise or scale.
We also support charities. That one is personal. We give charities our time at reduced rates, and some get it for free. If your organisation does important work on a tight budget, we want to help.
How we work
You talk to the people doing the work. Not a sales team, not an account manager. If something is not going well, you will hear about it from us before you have to ask.
We quote upfront, we document everything, and we build things so your team can run them without us. The goal is always to leave you in a stronger position than we found you.
